This class aims to provide students with a general overview of women’s writing through the centuries. Each class will revolve around the analysis of one excerpt from a specific time period and will lead to discussions of the cultural (and literary) context, literary theory, etc. By the end of the semester, students should have a good grasp on the general evolution of literary production (through female writers) and of the broader literary and cultural context.
A booklet with the excerpts will be provided at the beginning of the semester. Excerpts will include poetry and drama, as well as prose fiction and essays.
